Hi there and welcome to Getting Out Of The Poorhouse. My name is RJ and I’m 29 years old. Like most folks in the US, I’m carrying a fair amount of debt (student loans mostly) and like all people in this predicament, would like to get rid of them. I’ve created www.gettingoutofthepoorhouse.com to chronicle my journey, to post about ways that I save or make money, link to interesting things that I find on the web, and to share my money blunders which are entertaining tales of financial mishaps.
Even though Getting Out Of The Poorhouse is primarily a personal finance blog, I’d like to point out that the term ‘poorhouse’, though often related to monetary issues can mean other things as well. There is the ‘emotional poorhouse’, the ’spiritual poorhouse’, and the ‘intellectual poorhouse’ among others. These are topics that resonate with me as well.
I also want to let you guys know that this site is a work in progress so it’ll be constantly changing - from the colors, to the layout, to the inclusion of ads (Well I have to keep the site running now, right?). Just putting it out there so there are no surprises later
